Even though the Natchez Bulldogs have not done well against the Brookhaven Panthers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Natchez snuck past Brookhaven with a 42-38 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Natchez.
Natchez's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was RONIYA ELLIS, who scored 18 points along with seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which ELLIS has scored at least a third of Natchez's points. The team also got some help courtesy of ZAMONIE WILSON, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Natchez has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Brookhaven, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Natchez will take on North Pike at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (North Pike is ranked 87th, while Natchez is ranked 92nd). As for Brookhaven, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Jones at 6:00 p.m.
