Tiara Hyles was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Strohl, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Kaylene Wirick was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
L'Anse Creuse always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .617. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Warren Woods-Tower faced Lake Shore in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Titans fell just short of the Shorians by a score of 8-7. The Titans' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Alexandria Strunk made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jackie Asmar, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Warren Woods-Tower's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for L'Anse Creuse, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
