13 must be Caldwell County's lucky number: they beat Pulaski County with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Maroons with a sharp 13-7 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Caldwell County let Brylee Butts and Harper Holeman run wild. Butts went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Holeman went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Butts has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Tink Clark, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Caldwell County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Muhlenberg County). Everything went their way against Butler County on Friday as they made off with a 16-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won five in a row.
Bella McCarraher spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abry Carver, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Joshlynn Noe was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
Muhlenberg County's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Caldwell County, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Caldwell County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Muhlenberg County struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
