Muncie Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lafayette Jefferson apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Muncie Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Xaviya Cook. Despite the final result, he scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Wells, who scored five points.
Alonzo Clawson-smith was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with seven steals for Lafayette Jefferson. Clawson-smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Devion Penny was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Muncie Central's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-6. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Muncie Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Noblesville at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Noblesville is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they will head out on the road to take on Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Anderson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58 points per game.
