Treutlen has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. The Treutlen Vikings and the Telfair County Trojans will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Treutlen posted their biggest victory since December 2, 2023 on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dooly County 46-12 on the road. The win was just what Treutlen needed coming off of a 60-29 loss in their prior matchup.
Treutlen found their leader in underclassman Aniya Wadley, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wadley has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of ShaCaria Jackson, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Telfair County can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They really took it to Wheeler County for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-26 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Telfair County has posted against Wheeler County since December 19, 2020.
Passion Clay was her usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Trynitee Newson, who scored eight points.
Treutlen's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Telfair County, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Treutlen didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Telfair County in their previous matchup on January 2nd, but they still walked away with a 61-57 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Telfair County's Zah'Mya McDuffie, who scored 31 points along with three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Treutlen still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
