Mintz Christian Academy is 9-1 against Antioch Christian Academy since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Lions will head out to take on the Gators at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Monday. Mintz Christian Academy never let Sandhills Classical Christian get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That ten run margin sets a new team best for Mintz Christian Academy this season.
Meanwhile, Antioch Christian Academy won against Sandhills Classical Christian last Monday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Gators were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Liberty Christian Academy. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Carson Phillips was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Phillips was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Joshua Brooks looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Bailee Hardee was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jared Davis also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Antioch Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Mintz Christian Academy's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.0 runs this season. As for Antioch Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Everything went Mintz Christian Academy's way against Antioch Christian Academy when the teams last played back in March, as Mintz Christian Academy made off with a 10-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
