Beaumont is a perfect 5-0 against Redlands since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. The game will give Beaumont their first taste of in-conference action this season.
Last Friday, Beaumont came up short against Vista Murrieta and fell 21-14. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Despite their loss, Beaumont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jeremiah Duhu, who threw for 268 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 68 yards, was perhaps the best of all. The Cougars' leading receiver Braedon Miller was Duhu's top target yet again, picking up 103 receiving yards and one score.
Even if they lost, Beaumont's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Brayden Valentich refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Vista Murrieta's side was Valentich, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Redlands ended up a good deal behind Palm Desert last Friday and lost 50-35.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Anthony Fraire and Alfred 'AJ' Rivera Jr.. Rivera Jr. had a great game and rushed for 200 yards and one TD while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Fraire was balling out in the loss, throwing for 488 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 14.8 yards per attempt.
Having lost for the first time this season, Beaumont fell to 4-1. As for Redlands, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Duhu and Fraire. Duhu just won't slow down this season and has thrown 12 touchdowns while averaging 231.8 passing yards per game. Fraire has been a dominant force too and has thrown 12 touchdowns while averaging 329.8 passing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Beaumont against Redlands in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 51-17 victory. In that contest, the Cougars amassed a halftime lead of 34-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
