Whitewright is 1-0 against Trenton since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Whitewright Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Trenton Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Whitewright is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Whitewright lost to Tom Bean at home by a decisive 27-8 margin. Whitewright was down 27-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kenneth York, who rushed for 130 yards.
Meanwhile, Trenton pushed their score all the way to 36 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 48-36 to Nocona. Trenton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Trenton's loss came about despite a quality game from Micah Wommack, who rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 66 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Colton Gray was another key contributor, gaining 165 total yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped Whitewright to 2-5 and Trenton to 3-4.
Everything came up roses for Whitewright against Trenton in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 35-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whitewright since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
