The Westover Patriots's 19-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a serious blow against Tift County on Tuesday, falling 62-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Westover has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Westover lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jada Landers. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Landers scored a full 43.5% of Westover's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Westover struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Westover's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Tift County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westover will be home for the holidays to greet Valdosta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Valdosta presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Westover in Georgia (Valdosta is ranked 62nd, while Westover is ranked 241st). Tift County will be home for the holidays to greet Sumter County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sumter County is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
