The Logansport Berries's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Frankfort Hot Dogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Wednesday.
Logansport suffered their biggest loss since November 10, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Anderson 74-42. Logansport found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post nine fewer assists than your opponent.
Lydia Goad put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 16 points. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Golda Kitchell, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Frankfort's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 62-32 defeat at the hands of Southmont. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Frankfort has suffered against Southmont since January 19, 2017.
Despite their loss, Frankfort saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Vannessa Guardado, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Guardado hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.
Logansport has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Frankfort, they dropped their record down to 1-20 with that defeat, which was their 18th straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Logansport have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Frankfort struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Logansport was able to grind out a solid win over Frankfort when the teams last played back in January of 2022, winning 54-43. Will Logansport repeat their success, or does Frankfort have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
