Softball Recap: Adair County Has No Trouble Against Caverna

Adair County barely beat Caverna the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Adair County never let Caverna get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Friday. The game marked the Indians' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Jade Waggner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Gracie Gist and Callee White did most of the damage at the plate: Gist went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while White went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave Gist a new career-high. Allee Campbell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Adair County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Adair County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Caverna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Adair County will square off against Metcalfe County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Caverna, they will face off against Fort Campbell at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
