Helena unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McAdory Yellowjackets on Friday. Despite the loss, Helena still got an impressive performance from Davis Kelly, who picked up 114 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Kelly was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 68 yards.
Helena didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nathan Reid and Aiden Zepp. Jonathan Roberto was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass.
McAdory's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Justin Patton led the charge by throwing for 218 yards and three TDs.
