While it was all tied up 23-23 at halftime, Our Lady of the Elms was not quite the Ironmen's equal in the second half on Thursday. Our Lady of the Elms fell just short of the Ironmen by a score of 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Our Lady of the Elms has suffered since December 15, 2023.
Despite the defeat, Our Lady of the Elms had strong showings from Pilar Hampton, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 22 rebounds, and Faith Farris, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 52.4% of Our Lady of the Elms' points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Open Door Christian was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 28-27 to the Warriors. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Open Door Christian in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.
Our Lady of the Elms now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Open Door Christian, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Our Lady of the Elms suffered a grim 50-26 defeat to the Patriots in their previous matchup back in December of 2019.
