On Thursday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, the Bartram Trail Bears made off with a 43-42 victory over the Ware County Gators.
Arthur Lewis IV was a one-man wrecking crew for Bartram Trail as he rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Lewis IV really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. DeAndre Caldwell also helped out with an impressive 200 receiving yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Bartram Trail was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 581 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ware County only gained 369.
Despite the loss, Ware County still got an impressive performance from Jamir Boyd, who rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Tayshaun Franklin was another key player, rushing for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Bartram Trail now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Ware County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Bartram Trail will take on Creekside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ware County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on September 20th. Lincoln will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Ware County surely won't give up without a fight.
