Valley recap November 13, 2013
Del Norte scaled the state rankings by moving to 267 from 300 this week, the biggest jump in Valley. The Nighthawks were able to move up by besting Mt. Carmel 35-28.
Valley Center took down Orange Glen 49-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lucas Johnson threw for 263 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 16-29 with 0 interceptions.
Spenser Pennington made the biggest impact on defense this week as Del Norte defeated the Sundevils. The 6-foot-1 senior recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 2 sacks.
Johnson was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 129 yards on 12 carries as Mt. Carmel lost to the Jaguars. Teammate Davion Fuller added to the ground attack by rushing for 68 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Parker Lappin of Leigh Cole's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,684. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Isiah Hennie. The San Marcos star has 71 catches for 1,216 yards.
Fuller of the John Anderson's team is only 31 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 148 carries Fuller has accumulated 969 yard this year.
The Nighthawks made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,401 from 3,880. The improvement was largely due to a 35-28 victory over the Sundevils last week.
