Lincoln Academy is 9-1 against Belfast since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Lincoln Academy is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, Lincoln Academy came up short against Cony and fell 10-7.
B Lafrenaye made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That hit was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of A Starbird, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Belfast got the win against Winslow on Monday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jordyn MacKay made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. MacKay was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Katience Parenteau was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Maggie Metcalf was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
Belfast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winslow only posted an OBP of .167.
Belfast pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lincoln Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lincoln Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Belfast struggles in that department as they've averaged .504. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lincoln Academy skirted past Belfast 12-11 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
