The Bellevue Wolverines had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They beat Monroe on Saturday by the very same score they won with last week: 49-7. The win was familiar territory for Bellevue who now have eight in a row.
Bellevue got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carson Rubin out in front who rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Ryken Moon was another key contributor, rushing for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Bellevue's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-3 Juanita and 6-4 Mountlake Terrace (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.4% over those games). As for Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Bellevue will square off against Arlington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Arlington is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
