Softball Recap: Yulee Wins Going Away Against Land O' Lakes

Yulee made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Land O' Lakes, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Gators on Friday. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Peyton Tharp, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Fisher, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Tharp wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Yulee lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Yulee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Land O' Lakes, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Yulee didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 5-1 victory against West Port on the 28th. As for Land O' Lakes, they have also already played their next game, a 7-3 defeat against Trinity Catholic on the 29th.
