Frankenmuth and Garber are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Dukes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Frankenmuth has five straight wins, Garber has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Frankenmuth came out on top against Bridgeport on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run first inning. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.
Izzy Bernthal made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bernthal was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Claire Edwards was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Sprowl, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Frankenmuth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Clio hit Garber with a six-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dukes fell 8-3 to the Mustangs.
Grace Zwetzig was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run. Jae Shooltz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Frankenmuth's record is now 4-0. As for Garber, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Frankenmuth hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .463. However, it's not like Garber struggles in that department as they've averaged .371. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Frankenmuth took their win against Garber in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
