The Jordan-Matthews Jets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Seaforth, falling 63-12. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jordan-Matthews in their matchups with Seaforth: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Jordan-Matthews saw an underclassman step up: Yamilet Lozano scored five points along with two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Jordan-Matthews struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Seaforth racked up 14 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seaforth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hannah Ajayi, who scored 17 points along with four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ajayi has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby White, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Jordan-Matthews' defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.4 points per game. As for Seaforth, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jordan-Matthews the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cummings at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Seaforth will take on Rolesville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Rolesville is ranked 15th, while Seaforth is ranked 22nd).
