The Green City Gophers can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat La Plata 70-39 on the road. The win was familiar territory for Green City who now have five in a row.
Leading Green City to victory were Xander Salas and Asher Buggs-Tipton. Salas scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals, while Buggs-Tipton scored 22 points. Buggs-Tipton has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 16 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ivan Littrell, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Green City is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. As for La Plata, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Green City will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Linn County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 557th, while the Gophers are ranked 85th). As for La Plata, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
