The Rapides Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Oakdale Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Rapides is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since February 24th on Friday. They fell just short of Hicks by a score of 6-4. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Meanwhile, Oakdale won against Avoyelles on Thursday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Oakdale was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Lake Charles College Prep. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Braedan Strother made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since March 1st. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Maddox Thompson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Oakdale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Hebert, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Oakdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Charles College Prep only posted an OBP of .235.
Rapides now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Oakdale, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
