The Cordova Blue Devils's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Sumiton Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Saturday, Cordova lost to Oakman at home by a decisive 56-40 margin. While losing is never fun, Cordova can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Oakman is ranked 109th).
Meanwhile, Sumiton Christian pushed their score all the way to 65 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 76-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Addison. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (64), Sumiton Christian still had to take the loss.
Cordova has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Sumiton Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Cordova strolled past Sumiton Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 by a score of 52-36. Does Cordova have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sumiton Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
