Oakdale and Midway are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2023, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Green Wave at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Midway will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Oakdale extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand Pigeon Forge a 15-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Madeline Evans and Landry Smith made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Evans tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Smith pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Evans went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Smith went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Rilee Goodson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Moore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Oakdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pigeon Forge only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, Midway made easy work of Rockwood on Wednesday and carried off a 16-1 victory. The Green Wave haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Oakdale's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Midway, their win bumped their record up to 6-17.
Oakdale got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Midway by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Green Wave have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
