Skyline has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Clearfield Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you drain six more threes than your opponent, a fact Skyline proved on Thursday. They came out on top against Viewmont by a score of 51-41. That looming 51-41 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Skyline yet this season.
Leelu Bare continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Skyline's points. Cami Groberg was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Clearfield put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Weber at home to the tune of 62-25. That 62-25 margin sets a new team best for Clearfield this season.
Clearfield's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Isabelle Wyaskett, who scored 12 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and Nevea Cordova, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Cordova scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xiyah Yarbrough, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Skyline's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7. As for Clearfield, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Skyline have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Clearfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 34.2 rebounds per game. Given Skyline's sizeable advantage in that area, Clearfield will need to find a way to close that gap.
Skyline took their victory against Clearfield when the teams last played back in December of 2020 by a conclusive 55-33. Does Skyline have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clearfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
