The Monterey Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 17th straight loss. They were beaten by York Institute 78-45. Monterey has struggled against York Institute recently, as their game on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Monterey had strong showings from Aiden Roberson-Barber, who scored 23 points along with two steals, and Mekkiah Henry, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Roberson-Barber has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.
Monterey dropped their record down to 2-25 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for York Institute, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monterey will face off against Trousdale County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Monterey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for York Institute, they will head out on the road to challenge Smith County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Smith County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully York Institute likes a good challenge.
