Currituck County is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Pasquotank County is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Knights will welcome the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Currituck County is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Martin County just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 35-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gators. The Knights were up 22-7 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pasquotank County). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat First Flight 56-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Currituck County better focus on containing Josiah Bennett and Tyshawn Spencer as the pair were huge in Pasquotank County's win. Bennett threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes, while Spencer rushed for 64 yards and three scores. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Spencer a new career-high.
Pasquotank County's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Kenneth Mashall and Dylan Trotter, who racked up five sacks between them.
Currituck County's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Pasquotank County, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Currituck County has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 161.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pasquotank County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 213.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Currituck County came up short against Pasquotank County in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 28-22. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Panthers' Jayon Harris, who rushed for 111 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. Now that the Knights know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
