Baseball Recap: Mountainburg Beats Ozark Catholic Academy for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Mountainburg had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They blew past the Ozark Catholic Academy Griffins 13-1. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Ryan Allen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Levi Pense, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallon Turner, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Mountainburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mountainburg's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ozark Catholic Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Mountainburg will challenge Westside at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ozark Catholic Academy, they will square off against Providence Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Griffins are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
