The Laurel Golden Tornadoes's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Vancleave Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on January 25th. Laurel will be strutting in after a victory while Vancleave will be coming in after a defeat.
In what's become a running theme this season, Laurel gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Wayne County as Laurel made off with a 58-32 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Laurel has posted since December 28, 2023.
Laurel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marissa Ulmer, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Ulmer hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Savannah Gant was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Meanwhile, Vancleave ended up a good deal behind Wayne County on Friday and lost 51-36. While losing is never fun, Vancleave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Wayne County is ranked 53rd).
Laurel is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Vancleave, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Laurel against Vancleave when the teams last played two weeks ago as the team secured a 57-7 victory. With Laurel ahead 42-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
