In what's become a running theme this season, the Venture Academy Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Turlock Christian 107-32 at home. Winning may never get old, but Venture Academy sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
It was another big night for Mario Williams, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Marcos Rosales was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Turlock Christian still got an impressive performance from Michael Miller, who scored seven points.
Turlock Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Venture Academy racked up 29 assists.
Venture Academy pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 97.9 points per game. As for Turlock Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Venture Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Atwater at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Atwater will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 492nd, while Venture Academy is ranked 193rd). Turlock Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Big Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Big Valley Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Turlock Christian likes a good challenge.
