This season hasn't been kind to the Marion-Franklin Red Devils, who are still winless after their fifth match. They took a serious blow against South on Tuesday, falling 64-21. Marion-Franklin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
South got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kesia Williams out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Emani Tynes, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Marion-Franklin bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for South, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion-Franklin will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Walnut Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. South will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Briggs at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
