Basketball Game Preview: Fort Myers Green Wave vs. Cypress Lake Panthers

Fort Myers has gone 4-0 against Cypress Lake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Fort Myers Green Wave will head out to challenge the Cypress Lake Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Fort Myers had to suffer through a 58-17 loss at the hands of Gateway. The contest marked the Green Wave's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Fort Myers saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Juliya Smith posted five points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Smith is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Cypress Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Oasis 57-26. One positive for the Panthers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Fort Myers and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Cypress Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything came up roses for Fort Myers against Cypress Lake in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, as the team secured a 76-11 win. Does Fort Myers have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cypress Lake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
