The Denbigh Patriots will head out on the road to take on the Churchland Truckers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Denbigh will bounce into Monday's match after beating Woodside, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Patriots blew past the Wolverines 22-7 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
London Fate made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Fate was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alieyah Bullock was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Kimani Grady also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Denbigh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.
Meanwhile, Churchland never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Norcom with a sharp 15-0 win. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Truckers this season.
Jestice Hill was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna Reynolds, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Denbigh's record now sits at 7-5. As for Churchland, their record is now 5-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Denbigh has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Churchland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Denbigh suffered a grim 16-2 defeat to Churchland in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
