Centennial is a perfect 4-0 against Murrieta Valley since November of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Huskies will face off against the Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Centennial's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last five games.
Centennial is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Vista Murrieta 63-14 on Friday. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Centennial relied on the efforts of Malaki Davis, who rushed for 150 yards and three scores, and Dominick Catalano, who threw for 227 yards and four TDs on only 13 passes. Davis' longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards. Gavin Lorge also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Centennial's run defense was locked in: Vista Murrieta could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. The Huskies didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.5.
Meanwhile, Murrieta Valley faced Chaparral in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Nighthawks enjoyed a cozy 56-42 win over the Pumas.
Centennial better keep an eye on Jeremiah Watson. He was instrumental in Murrieta Valley's win, rushing for 281 yards and six TDs while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Watson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 107 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Ty Isaia, who rushed for 92 yards on only eight carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Murrieta Valley's defensive line and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from Joseph Rodriguez: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Centennial's record now sits at 6-1. As for Murrieta Valley, their record is now an identical 6-1.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Davis and Watson. Davis just won't slow down this season and has run in 14 touchdowns while averaging 90.1 rushing yards per game. Watson has been a dominant force too and has run in 19 touchdowns while averaging 174.1 rushing yards per game.
Centennial strolled past Murrieta Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 28-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
