Lenape Valley (Stanhope, N.J.) 21-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a punt return touchdown by
Ben Cramer in the first quarter, the Braves were up 21-7 at the half.
Newton saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to seven entering the fourth.
NHS went into the matchup giving up only 13.8 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Lenape Valley, who notched a 28-7 victory over Parsippany in its previous outing. The loss snapped Lenape Valley's three-game winning streak.
Lenape Valley (4-2) will play a Northwest Jersey - Freedom game against Madison next week, while Newton (3-3) will take on Dover also in a Northwest Jersey - Freedom game.
