The Banneker Trojans pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Creekside. Banneker was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Creekside apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Creekside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tim Gaulden led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds. Jevon Harris was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Banneker has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Creekside, their win ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-21.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Banneker will square off against Tri-Cities at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Tri-Cities' favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while Banneker has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Creekside, they will take on Chapel Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chapel Hill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Creekside in Georgia (Chapel Hill is ranked 33rd, while Creekside is ranked 427th).
