Softball Recap: South Adams' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

After a string of four wins, South Adams's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Fort Recovery Indians by a score of 7-6. The Starfires were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Addie Baker was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Avery Brown made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reece Beitler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

South Adams' loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Fort Recovery, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

South Adams will be playing at home against Woodlan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Recovery, they will head out to square off against Covington at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buccs have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
