Make it six blowout wins for the St. Ignatius Wildcats this season. Everything went their way against Avon on Saturday as St. Ignatius made off with a 76-52 victory. The victory was familiar territory for St. Ignatius who now have five in a row.
St. Ignatius' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Zapolnik led the charge by scoring 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Reece Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
St. Ignatius' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.7 points per game. As for Avon, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
St. Ignatius will head out on the road to challenge the Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Benedictine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Friday. As for Avon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (Berea-Midpark is ranked 132nd, while the Eagles are ranked 150th).
