Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact the Porter Ridge Pirates proved on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 66-22 victory over East Mecklenburg on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-12.
Ashanti Taylor had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Porter Ridge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Malcolm, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why East Mecklenburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ava Stallings. Despite the final result, she scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds.
Porter Ridge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for East Mecklenburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Porter Ridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lincoln Charter at 6:00 p.m. on November 28th. Hopefully Lincoln Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
