Wakefield is 2-7 against Langley since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Saxons at 6:30 p.m. Wakefield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Wakefield came up short against Herndon and fell 6-2.
Lucy Strawn made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Mitzen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Langley came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Highlanders, sneaking past 3-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 4, 2025, but that streak is no more.
Norah Jacques spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mads Fiorenini, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ali Glantzis, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Langley's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Wakefield, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Wakefield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. However, it's not like Langley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
