This season hasn't been kind to the Premont Cowboys, who are still winless after their ninth match. They were the victim of a tough 52-30 defeat at the hands of Santa Gertrudis Academy on Friday. Premont has struggled against Santa Gertrudis Academy recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Santa Gertrudis Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaitlyn `mejia, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikyela Munoz, who scored nine points.
Premont has fallen quite a ways from their 25-7 record last season and are now at 0-9. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Premont will be home for the holidays to greet La Villa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Odem at 11:00 a.m. on December 20th. Odem comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
