The Elmwood-Murdock Knights waltzed into their matchup on Friday with ten straight wins but they left with 11. They strolled past Palmyra with points to spare, taking the game 48-31. Given Elmwood-Murdock's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Panthers are ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elmwood-Murdock had a senior duo take command as Jordan Vogler dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds and Laney Frahm scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Frahm is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Annie Backemeyer, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Elmwood-Murdock's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Palmyra, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Elmwood-Murdock will head out on the road to face off against the Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palmyra, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Indians.
