Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends New Heights Christian Academy's Winning Streak

New Heights Christian Academy lost against Lighthouse Christian back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The New Heights Christian Academy Cougars fell 73-63 to the Lighthouse Christian Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Chargers are ranked 51st).

Jadon Smith and Adam Stanton certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Smith went 7 for 9 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals, while Stanton went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Decker, who posted seven points and three steals.

Lighthouse Christian was led to victory by Elijah Rahn and Lee Stinson. Rahn went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, while Stinson dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Judah Louderback was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points.

New Heights Christian Academy moved to 6-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Lighthouse Christian, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Heights Christian Academy will head out to square off against Springfield Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Heights Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Springfield Catholic likes a good challenge. As for Lighthouse Christian, they will venture away from home to take on Clever at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
