The Canton Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet the Provine Rams at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Canton has seven straight victories, Provine has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Canton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season. They blew past Murrah 59-35.
Canton found their leader in underclassman Shamira Morton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Morton has scored at least 25% of Canton's points. Another player making a difference was Kaniyah Hawkins, who scored five points along with five assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Provine lost to Jim Hill at home by a decisive 53-37 margin last Friday.
Canton pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Provine, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Canton took their win against Provine in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 53-29. Will Canton repeat their success, or does Provine have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
