The Orangeburg Prep Indians put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Palmetto Christian Academy by a score of 43-35. Given Orangeburg Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the are ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Palmetto Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cokey Suddeth. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. That was a full 40% of Palmetto Christian Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Adelaide Suddeth was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Orangeburg Prep pushed their record up to 17-0 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
Orangeburg Prep will head out on the road to challenge the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
