It was a proper cat-fight when Carroll County faced off against Henry County on Wednesday. The Panthers lost 20-7 to the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since May 10, 2025.
For Henry County's part, Kennadie Hamby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hamby has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Henry County got a massive performance out of Charlee Howell, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Howell a new career-high. Aubree Kirk was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Henry County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Henry County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Carroll County, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-4.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carroll County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .373.
