There's no place like home for the Walnut Mustangs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Wilson by a score of 66-55 on Thursday. Given Walnut's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Wilson is ranked 615th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Walnut's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cory Fluker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Fluker continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Leon, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Walnut has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Wilson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12.
Walnut will head out on the road to take on Diamond Bar at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Diamond Bar will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Wilson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Los Altos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Los Altos' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 matches.
