Softball Recap: McDonogh Takes a Loss

McDonogh dropped down to 4-2 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Mount de Sales Academy Sailors by a score of 7-5. The Eagles lost against the Sailors in their previous head to head back in April of 2025, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 25-0 score last time.

As for Mount de Sales Academy, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Mount de Sales Academy's part, Olivia Van Fossen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Brooke Fuhr was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Quinn Hastings, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. McDonogh is set to challenge their familiar foe John Carroll at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mount de Sales Academy will take on rival Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
