Stoneman Douglas proved they can win big back in December of 2024 (they won by 21) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 victory over the Deerfield Beach Bucks. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won five matchups in a row.

Stoneman Douglas was led to victory by Ayden Mclean and Zack Story. Mclean went 8 for 17 on his way to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, while Story dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Story a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Derek Scheidt, who posted eight points.

Stoneman Douglas pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Deerfield Beach, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.

Stoneman Douglas will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Coral Glades at 7:30 p.m. Coral Glades knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Stoneman Douglas likes a good challenge. As for Deerfield Beach, they will head out to challenge South Plantation at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Plantation is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
