The South Platte Blue Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Banner County as South Platte made off with a 73-52 win. With that victory, South Platte brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
South Platte had a senior duo take command as Dashle Richards scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals and Cavin Lanman scored 17 points. It was the first time this season that Lanman scored 15 or more points. Conner Evans was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.
Banner County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brendyn Onstott, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals. Onstott has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Parsons, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists.
Banner County struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as South Platte posted 12 assists.
The victory got South Platte back to even at 9-9. As for Banner County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.
South Platte will head out on the road to face off against Bayard at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Bayard is ranked 251st, while South Platte is ranked 230th). Banner County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
